China is so big!!

Hehe, literally.

I think a lot of my friends expected this blog message much earlier. But limited internet access made me not being able to write. Chatting with friends was more attractive. :P
Actually I have lots to tell~~ after being here for almost a month, i must have something to tell, right?
euh... actually I don't know where to start...
(kidding)

My first impressions of China are: Everything needs to be big, great, sparkling... to impress. It impressed me above all. :) I feel like an ant here. between all other ants... working ants, eating ants, small ants, big ants, lazy ants, working like hell ants... lots of ants...and I feel so small... because I am here for no reason... and they are there for living, for work, for surviving, who knows...
After one week of being frustrated because of doing nothing I got used to it. And now, I actually like it. Just shopping and searching some places to visit and answering THE BIG QUESTION: "Where are we going to lunch/dinner?"

In fact I missed the feeling of "visiting some new place" because I know this place already. But again facing the problems of not being able to read a card in a restaurant or busses' destinations make my stay much more challenging. Luckily I speak Cantoneze, if not... I think I would have been served weird food or the busses would have brought me to unreachable destinations.

I stayed 3 weeks with my parents. So my parents decided where to go and what to eat. Now, they're gone... it's up to me. And believe me... decision making process is still long as there are so many choices here.
For example: I wanna eat. What do I wanna eat? Where do i wanna eat? Not easy heh. I tell you, you just have to turn around 360 degrees, and you can already count ten places to eat.

Being a tourist in my own roots-country... fascinable.
Because people think i can whatever they can (that means reading and writing) as i look like them. So when I asked which tastes the ice cream seller had, he promptly pointed at the black board fully writen of Chinese characters.
Or the other time when I asked the way to some people they pointed somewhere in the air and yelled: "there, in front, in front!!" "But where in front?"I asked. Then those people will look at me as I was such a stupid person and pointed again:" Theeree. in front, I said, theeereee."

A big difference between 3 years ago and now, is that people speak mandarin in shops, restaurants,... And everybody is supposed to know this language. Only my grandma doesn't speak this language. This big difference only in a time period of 3 years!

Chilling.
I think that's the word. That's what I am doing now... the whole time. Food is great, fruit is great (I'm a fruitivore) and life is great~

I've been to Macau and Hong Kong together for a week. That was amazingly nice. The living standard is closer to the one i'm used to and people are more friendly over there. In Hong Kong, I got to meet friends, AIESECers, interns... :) Nadya made me feeling home from the beginning. I was lucky: we went on a boat trip to little islands in HK. Beautiful views and great atmosphere were making my day so wonderful. I also went out with Nadya, Martha, Liz, Hilton and Resty to one of the most popular going-out areas in Hong Kong, Lan Kwai Fong, where I have never been to. I also got impressed of the big shopping malls in HK. So while I was expressing my impressions, Nadya and Martha were looking to me like: "don't embarrass us!" hahaha.
I didn't meet that many Honkongneze AIESECers, but plenty of interns. Many of them are from the AP-region. It was funny to get along with them. Sometimes I could speak Mandarin, Cantonese and English all mixed together.
It was a good experience, as I saw life in Hong Kong from a perspective of internationals.
I also met my cousin in HongKong. She is a real business woman and has a funky life in HK. I went to eat something sweet with her (they call it dessert here) and we got to know 2 Dutch Chinese girls. That was funny, because they also look to pictures to chose their food.

Now I am back in China, (near Guang Zhou) where my parents have a house. It has been good till far. I only worry about getting back active after this lazy period. Well yeah. In less than a month I will move over to Beijing. Where a totally new thing is waiting for me.

That's it for now, I will write again soon.

Ow. one more thing to tell: In my excitement to come over here, I somehow forgot the little insects who are living here. Moustiqo's are making me scratching like crazy day and night. Even now while writing this blog, I feel they are biting me. Spiders as big as a flat apple making me scream so loud that the whole village know... or the mega-coachroaches making me jump meters away... I guess I need to accept there existance in this humid world. Sigh.

I will upload pictures as soon as possible!~~
